Where Theater Starts Reading Series serves as our outreach to playwrights. This curated reading series features up to four playwrights per year. The focus is on identifying character-driven plays that can be developed into full productions. HExTC tends to favor works where the “ink is still drying.”

Through this program we seek to work with a select group of talented playwrights who in turn will provide the future content for HExTC’s main-stage productions and media projects. At the core of this program is to form long term relationships with the playwrights featured, effectively offering a legitimate opportunity for a script to move from a reading to full production.
