Hudson Exploited Theater Company (HExTC) was founded in 1990.  Originally organized as an artist collective while its members were still in high school, it began producing several plays throughout the early 1990s to local acclaim.  After graduating from college, founding members Arian Blanco and Jim Thalman reconnected in 1999 for an off-Broadway production of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men.  Building on the strength of that project, HExTC continued to evolve and became a fully incorporated New Jersey based, 501(c) 3 nonprofit on January 4, 2003.

From 2002-2010, HExTC was the resident professional theater company at the historic Park Performing Arts Center (PPAC) in Union City, New Jersey, from where HExTC developed the intimate black-box space, The 32nd Street Playhouse, and produced numerous plays both in New Jersey and New York City including the award-winning bilingual play Cuban Operator Please… by Adrian Rodriguez.

In 2007, Arian Blanco and Jim Thalman executive produced the film short The Secret Under the Rose, which won four Best Picture Awards on the International Film Festival Circuit and was subsequently distributed via O'uat Media. Based on the success of that film, HExTC began to expand its programming to develop & produce film, television and multimedia projects.
